QUB Mountaineering Club welcomes new members regardless of whether you are a Queen’s University Belfast student or not and regardless of whether you have any experience at climbing/mountaineering.
We meet at the Queen’s Physical Education Centre (PEC) Climbing Wall three times each week to train at the following times:
Tuesdays: 19.00 – 22.00
Wednesdays (Boulderworld): 19.00 – 22.00
Thursdays: 18.00 – 20.00
Following each Tuesday session, club members will head out for a few drinks in a nearby bar. This is a perfect chance for you to get to know the other members of the club in a more informal and relaxed setting.
Membership to QUB Mountaineering Club falls into two categories:
1. Student Membership:
If you are a student at Queen’s you can sign up to QUB Mountaineering Club at the Fresher’s Fair or at the PEC Climbing Wall. Student members will receive a 25% subsidy on all club trips, as well as insurance cover from Queen’s University and access to club gear for the year.
Membership fees each year for students are £4 at the Fresher’s Fair or £5 at the PEC Climbing Wall.
2. Associate Membership:
If you are not a student at Queen’s you can still join QUB Mountaineering Club. To do so, an application form must be filled in and emailed to the committee for approval. This may be found in the “Club Documents” section. Associate members will not receive subsidy on any club trip, nor will they receive insurance from Queen’s University. As such, Associate members are encouraged to obtain their own insurance each year.
Membership fees each year for associate-students are £15, and for associates are £25.
Joining QUB Mountaineering Club could not be simpler. Just show up at the PEC Climbing Wall during one of the training times listed above; grab a hold of the President or Treasurer and get yourself signed up.
