  • I’d be game. Could be a nice post differentiation treat! First week in Sept would be best for me (Scout Troop restarted mid Sept!)

Jeez, nominations only came in on Friday! Will sort out a spreadsheet this afternoon.

AGM is on the 26th March, which is over 2 weeks away!

  • Who are you?

  • Steve, So I’ve been mulling over whether to respond at all to your post regarding the “Future of QUBMC” and your observations. Reading the range of comments above it’s clear that your post has touched a few nerves. I’m not sure what the intended outcome from your post really was. I mean, was this a genuine concern you are voicing or are you…[Read more]

Proposed dates based on the committee meeting last night were the 4th – 11th April (Easter Saturday to the following Saturday).

Skye was floated as the venue as well.

Other than that, no more information that I can offer…

  • The last time I was down in the cottage (Hill Skills) there was a titanium cup left there. Check with Fyfe to see if he took it up to Belfast.

    Regarding the rest, no idea!

@The Club Cat: £150 was budgeted for setting, but overall it was included in the payment made to Eddie.

I just think that now is a good time to see if UUJ really want to be involved with us on cross-club activities, or are they just using us to provide possible activities/events because they can’t organise a piss up in a brewery. It’s also…[Read more]

    Alex,

    Re: Bouldering Competition

Contact Gareth Brown and perhaps ask him to organise it this year. Here’s why:

We have run the competition since it’s inception, including getting prizes and venues etc.
Since Gareth and his year group (Alastair/John Geary/Jonny Graham etc) took over running the club, there has been a gradual decline in…[Read more]

Need to gauge first just how far behind we are? Are people confident to belay on their own yet? Are all the basics taught?

Technique workshops being run on Wednesdays in Boulderworld?

It is already public. It’s in the Info tab!

All joking aside – dependent on whether I am around, I should be able to help…

Make sure you check to ensure no courses are on as well!

  • Hill Skills: 1st – 2nd November 2014

Attendees (Saturday Night): Niall Browne, Michael Fyfe, Cecilia Mariani, Myles Gray and Sarah Bufkin.
Attendees (Sunday Morning): Andrew Woods and Chris McKavanagh.

A great success on the first Hill Skills session for the year.

    Saturday Evening:

The plan was pretty simple. Meet at Fyfe/Myles’ apartment,…[Read more]

Knotting slings is fine. People get worried about this because they start looking shit up on the internet from people who do strength testing etc and post “interesting results.” The amount of Mountain Instructors and Guides (working professionals) who knot slings on a daily basis is huge! One statement that really annoys me throughout the whole…[Read more]

  • Cool – waiting to see how many cars will be going down! I’m not super hopeful at the minute on account of it being Halloween weekend. Have checked with Rooney to see if he is game to drive down.

  • Hill Skills:

Mourne Cottage has been booked this weekend from Friday – Sunday for the club. I am aware that Friday evening is Halloween, and as such people will be out socialising etc.

I’m proposing to head down on Saturday morning to Hen/Pigeon area and go for a walk, and cover some navigation for those who are a bit rusty. Finish at around…[Read more]
