5.00pm, phone call from Stuart asking me to drive as his car had packed in. Left around 6.30pm after some hectic re-planning with laser’d eyes and crazy Pole. Trod the familiar path (for me) to Omagh and ASDA for supplies.

Onward towards Donegal, via some “interesting” roads, and “dubious” driving (quote outside Killybegs “Oh, corner….. more corner…… MORE CORNER!!!!”), finally arriving 2nd at Mad Mary’s at about 11pm.

Proceeded to nab a bed, while absorbing as much heat as possible for the day ahead.

We were supposed to get up early? 9am appeared anyway, left well after that. Watched the fresher’s top rope a handful of routes and took some pretty pictures while waiting for the bouldering to dry up. Also went and did the abseil and scramble that was setup by Mr. President. May have slightly froze on the scramble.

Then all hail broke loose. Briefly. Soaked everything, so half went for a dander, half hung about and hoped that it would dry up, which it thankfully did. Learnt a bit more about placing gear from Campbell with Chris doing his best to put him off.

Oh, yea, then some more climbing. Ronan led VS with Lisa second, Chris led HS with Myles second. Ask them for names. Top roped by several others with myself becoming Steve-off Champion 2013, just.

Mad Mary’s, food, kicked Campbell at chess, got mine handed to me by chess ninja Stijn, banter, pub, banter, bed.

No idea what time up or left at. None of Mad Mary’s hats left, made Steve sad.

Arrived first, with several wrong turns and a convoy following us.

Bouldering ensued. Fairly easy mantle problem, completely daft overhung thing, which I got to the edge of the overhang somehow, and squeezed down into a crack, which I’m still convinced I could have fitted through, but didn’t want to try, just in case.

About 1pm, a handful of top ropes set up. Along with the “cosy mass grave of doom” as I think it has been dubbed. Very warm, very few people actually climbed due to the warmth. Much laughter as we tried to figure out who was around/elbowing/crushing us. Became champion of human jousting, bit of a winning weekend, Mr. Sheen should take notes.

Managed to do the route that was closest to the cars, someone can fill in name/grade here, but only after I had face planted the rock while being let down over the overhang.

Day done, to Killybegs for substantial amounts of fish and chips. Belfast, after being kept awake by good music and craic, at some time, somehow awake and running on fumes.

Left CoReck home, went to Ronan/Stuart/Lisa’s, recovered for a while and went home and slept.
