So I’ve already asked some questions on the fb-page, but
“The club shall hold its A.G.M. before the last teaching day in the Spring Semester each year on a date to be fixed by the committee.”
I was wondering why this date was chosen?

Because of exams, the summer semester is very short and the only trip is the Gola trip.
In summer semester there is an overlap period between the two committees (new and old) where the previous committee members show thier new counterparts how to organise a trip and do their various jobs. People get cheques for petrol money.
All payments have to go through queens otherwise there is risk of embezzlement. Also by definition the petty cash in the cash box is feck all. Whenever we take in a significant amount of money (at freshers fair or for a trip for example) then that money is immediately lodged into the club bank account with queens finance office.October 21, 2014 at 14:33 #2653
Payments cannot be made in cash (i.e. for hostels/rental cars etc) because you require a paper trail. If you pay in cash by taking a lump sum out of the cashbox and paying that way, there is no clear way of making sure the executive committee are not skimming money off the top. Paying by card/direct bank transfer means you can track payments properly. It doesn’t complicate things, it protects the committee from unwarranted accusations.October 21, 2014 at 14:36 #2654

2.4 Membership shall be restricted to students of Queen’s University, Belfast (Q.U.B.), members shall pay an annual subscription, which shall be regulated by the committee.
2.6 Persons who are not students of Q.U.B. shall be eligible for Associate Membership on the recommendation of the committee
What about associates that are renewing their membership, does the committee need to run through them and approve the renewals based on contribution to the club.

Tis actually imposed by us, not Queens. Queen’s just enforce that the club remains a student club and not an associate club through not permitting associates to sit on the recognised committees.
