ParticipantAs you know, the cottage is always full for freshers trip.
So we need to take a few tents. However if everyone takes a tent, there will be no room. So lets make a plan!
My Plan:
Bring Big club tent.
I’ll bring my 4 man. ( I still need to get it from Grews )
An argument was that we all stay in the barn, as if the weather is bad, no-one wants to put up a tent etc. My issue is that the barn party goes on to all hours. And those people wont be able to sleep until its over. So the tent would provide a nice alternative.

ModeratorJust be wary about the limited space around the cottage for pitching tents due to the overgrown bushes etc.

InactiveI’m planning to go with sleeping bag and bivvy bag. I would suggest anybody else with a proper bivvy bag do the same, alot more space friendly than a tent.

ParticipantIs it not meant to be very rainy this wknd?
How overgrown are these bushes? can we bring hedge trimmers and go to town on em?

ParticipantSleeping in my car for sure!

InactiveBushses are very overgrown. Unless you have something with a petrol tank on it, cutting will be too much effort!
Google agrees that its to rain. Well I will still bring bivvy bag, wouldn’t be my first wet bivvy. If nothing else it will keep the sleeping bag clean on the floor!

ModeratorRequire a Petrol Strimmer to gut the areas around the cottage – probably something we may do later this year.
According to Tom last night, Met.ie and Norway’s Finest are saying showers on Saturday Morning and the rest to be grand.
Could be lucky…

ParticipantStúart and Roísín were down a few weeks ago with a strimmer.
Don’t bring the big tent. Tis too big. I’ve the club 3-man F10 tent, if anyone wants to share.

InactiveAren’t we depending on the big tent for people to have room?

ParticipantYeah I’m not inclined to think we will get luck with weather, its Ireland.
Big tent would provide room to change etc if you get soaked. Thats nvr pleasant in a small tent.
However it is annoying to set up and take down.

KeymasterOut of curiosity was there a cleanup weekend as I didn’t see one advertised (though I don’t read club emails so may be my bad)
I am sleeping in my car as there is not enough room for everyone in the cottage and last year the barn was pretty grim after the rave so I wont be sleeping in there. Whats the official number of people coming?
October 16, 2013 at 13:50 #352Andy Hedgy Hayes
ParticipantA fucktonne! think its around 74 people.

KeymasterThe big tent would be damn handy. it can fit tonnes of people in (9 in pods plus loads in the communal area). is there not room by the old fire pit? Even if its not strimmed you could still get a tent up. I heard people were heading down early so they could get it set up.

Keymaster… the two-storey building complete with bunk-style bed space for 24, kitchen, living area, showers and toilets….
Lets hope that there was a huge surge in people suffering from dwarfism going to queens and joining the club this year

ParticipantIsn’t that always the hope?
I’m happy to help set up / take down the tent
